Well, it's gotten rather dark here. EB the other intern I share an office with, and I usually work all day without turning on the light, mainly because we prefer the dark, but also because we have a huge window that usually lets in plenty of light. Until it's about to rain/storm apparently.
Anyway, I went to an orientation class last night for Greater DC Cares, a volunteer organization. I emailed a few project coordinators about maybe helping out here and there, and all of them are with kids. What can I say, I miss hanging out with little ones. (I suppose that comes from babysitting too much the last 7.5 years of my life). So yeah, I'm volunteering to hang out with kids.
Other than that, nothing much exciting has been happening. I had to get up an hour and a half early yesterday morning to go listen to Senator Ed Pastor talk. That man has a bit of a potty mouth on him. It wasn't bad, but I felt a bit offended since this was supposed to be a professional setting. Oh well. I think what really upset me most about it is that the people in charge of this internship program thing gave us bogus direction to get the place to begin with. I walked a good 15 minutes, if not 20, out of my way because I had to stop some kind gentleman and ask directions before realizing that I needed to backtrack back up the hill and then down another one. Not a good thing at 8 am. Especially all the walking in business attire. *Grr*
I watched the All Star game last night, well through the top of the 7th inning. Apparently I didn't miss much since the AL won, again! *stupididioticretardedAL* Can I just say I hate the way the All Star game is set up? Well, I guess I just did. First, I hate that it "count" for anything. It's supposed to be a fun game. Second, I hate the fans voting in the players. It's turned into a popularity contest and it's not fair to players deserving to go (whether they're Braves or not). And third, as much as I love Ozzie Guillen, I absolutely hated his managing last night. Players like Jeter, Ortiz, A-Rod, etc., were left in the game too long and wasn't fair to other players, in my opinion at least. Anyways, I don't want to start some kind of debate or anything like that, it's just the way I feel about the game that SUPPOSED to be fun, but no longer is.
In other news, i sat in on an executive board meeting this morning (oo, here comes the rain and thunder! sorry for the sidetrack). It was rather interesting but since I knew next to nothing, oh wait, I didn't know a thing about what was being discussed until it was being discussed, I was rather confused, or at least distracted in trying to figure out what to write down and what not to. It was a lively debate though. Either way, I came right back and typed up my report of the minutes while everything was still fresh in my mind. It wasn't too bad, but we'll see what the supervisor has to say about it tomorrow.
I think that's it for now. I have plenty of work to do, I'm just ready to end the day right now. Hence this much needed *break*.
