Ah, well, what can I say about today? Today was pretty awesome, in a bittersweet way. I got up about 10 after 8 this AM and showered and tolked to mom and then got dressed. Yes my mother called me just as I got back to the room from my shower. I didn't even have a chance to grab my clothes. My roommate was still asleep, and thankfully no one was in the lounge (and the blinds were closed), so I went in there and talked to mom to get directions to the sport complex were the tournament was being played. First off, just let me say that the brackets were sooooooooo screwy! And the later it got, the more the umpires made "mistakes" (yet to be determined if they were made on purpose to hurry the game along so they could leave). Let's just say that a strike against one of our girls would be a ball for the other team that was ahead of us . . . by 13 runs! Com'on now! Anyway, their first game was at 11am and they lost (slaughter rule, or mercy rule) 13-2, or was it 13-3? Anyway, based on the screwy brackets, they didn't play again until 5pm whereas the winners had to play in the next game, now what sense does that make? Whatever. They lost the second game by a much closer score of something like 6-2. Then right after that game, they had to play their third, and final game, and lost that one to slaughter rule as well, 20-2.
But to offset the disappointments from the loses, the weather was absolutely gorgeous! Not a cloud in sight! But of course that means, that this Sqrl is a roasted sqrl! *lol* I will say though that if this sunburn doesn't peel, it's gonna be one awesome deep tan!
But a tan with tan lines from my tank top. Both my mom and I had thought about bringing sunscreen but we both had forgotten, she rushing from home and me rushing from school, but mom just figured that my sister would have some, but this was the one day that she hadn't put any in her bag. So there are a lot of crispy peoples out there tonight.
Oh yeah, my sister was awesome today. She played right field in the first two games and started in right, then played an inning in left in the third before the coach took her out with two innings left. Mom and I didn't quite understand that because she, even with being the youngest on the team, had the most hits for the whole day. And her defense in the outfield, after overrunning that first ball, was outstanding. She had two catches that were only about 2 feet off the ground and she had a LOT of territory to cover to get there. So of course I claimed her as my sister . . . for today.
. . .
But yeah, my arms and face and chest are on fire so I'm gonna hurry and wrap this up.
I was estatic about being off campus for a day. I think that was exactly what I needed just before exams next week. (Wish me luck on that!) Braves beat the Mets, sorry toot, I listened to the last inning on the radio (bottom of the 8th and top of the 9th) on my way back to school. Speaking of which I need to call mom and let her know I'm here . . . brb. . . . .Ok. That's done. And one last thing before you leave this page, go sign my yearbook!
. . . Umm yeah, I think that's it about today . . . just lots of softball and loads of sun.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, congrats to shiny for winning most likely to still be blogging when the internet is obsolete.
Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go look for some aloe because this lotion is just not working . . . *ouch* . . .
