Well, this is a little update about what's been going with me lately. First, this past weekend is the first I've had in a while where I had days off from working--no babysitting and no concessions in Danville. Saturday through today, with an exception of teaching Sunday school at church yesterday, I didn't have to deal with customers, kids, or hot dogs!
I do stay mighty busy with that though. I've been doing lots of babysitting and working at the D'ville Braves stadium.
So this Saturday was spent helping my mom paint the teen room at the church's fellowship hall, and some grocery shopping for mom and dad. Both of my sisters left at 3 am that morning for WOL (World of Life) camp in Florida, so until late this coming Saturday night, I am an only child again. Not that I really remember being an only child in the first place, I was 3 when Kayla was born, so yeah.Anyway, mom and I have been painting but it's rather hard. First we had to put two coats of primer on the walls because the blue that had been painted on it was still showing through. Secondly, the walls are textured so the tape didn't stick to the wall very well in some spots and in others it stuck too well, well enough that it polled off the primer down to the ugly blue that was on the wall that we began with. So now mom is frustrated with trying to find a way to define the lines between the blues and the yellow that we've put on the wall. It really isn't that bad as long as you're standing at the door and just lloking in; it's when you come into the room and sit and look around that you notice every spot where the paint dripped under the tape or where the tape pulled up the paint. And the really bad part about that room is that it has wood trim which doesn't work with anything but white. But she'll figure somthing out and I'll be right there helping her I suppose.
Sunday was church, then home for lunch, ball games, and naps. Then it was back for evening service and then out to eat. (This is where the title to this post comes in.) Since my sisters are gone, it was my mom, dad, and me who went out to eat. We ended up going to the resturant that just about everyone at church goes to for either lunch or dinner. When we walked in, we were trying to decide where we wanted to sit when Mark, (my friend from high school that got married in March), his dad walked by and said that we were sitting with him and his family. So we did. I sat beside Mark's dad's, Leslie's, brother, Daniel. We ordered drinks and food and said prayer and were just talking and carrying on until the food got there when Daniel turns to me and asks me if I have my driver's license yet. To which I replied, "What do you mean?" . . . He thought I was 15! My dad replies to him that I'm 22. Mom and I both look at him and are like, NO, I'm 21. He and mom have been married 22 years, but I'm 21. Anyway, so I just look at mom and say, "Wait, how old am I again?" . . . Then conversation proceeded as normal and Dad left for work, then mom paid for our meals and we both went home and changed clothes and went back to the church and painted some more. And we're still not finished with that, but it's getting there.
Today, though, has been a "bum day" for me, which means I didn't do much of anything except stay in my pj's and watch tv. I did finally get dressed and went shopping for a couple hours with mom, but we were looking for something to define the lines of that room, and a punch bowl for my cousin's bridal shower (that we didn't find, not even at Wally World [Wal-Mart for the non-southerners]
). And then we came home and woke dad and ate dinner and flipped tv channels between Ron White on comedy central and CSI on spike. Now we're watching USA women's softball national team play Japan in the first Softball World Cup championship on espn2. And in about 15 minutes, the Braves' game will be coming on, and we'll be flippin to that and back.
Tomorrow, my routine continues--babysitting--but I don't have to work in D'ville until Friday. So I get to save some gas. Gas is forever esxpensive now days, isn't it? OOOoo, this game is getting interesting . . . bottom of the 6th, 2 out, 2 on, and Kelly Wilkerson up to bat. She's already had 2 big hits in tonight's game. I gotta go.
I hope everyone is doing well and that your summers are not as stressed as the rest of the year. I'll catch up with ya'll later.
